Diabetes in Denim

It seems that some of my posts this week have been less than - well, happy. Sorry about that. So I thought I would end the week on a positive note. This is a feel-good Friday story.

I found this article today about a school that let its kids wear denim to school if they made a donation for diabetes. I thought this was really cool. I’ve heard of similar fund-raisers for other medical conditions, but this is the first one I’ve read about for diabetes. Teaching them about diabetes at a young age is a good idea.

Have a wonderful weekend!

Thanks for the article. And thanks for posting even when your day is not perfect. If you were perfect we couldn't be friends!

That's a great idea. And don't worry about the posts. Like you have said to me, we are just here to listen and be there for each other.

I was at Burger King last week and I saw a bunch of people who apparently worked together with jeans on and JDRF stickers. I asked them about it, and they said they had donated to wear jeans that day.
I told them that they should have donated to me!

That is so much fun! It makes me think...The Sisterhood of the Diabetes Pants or something. Thanks for sharing! =)

So the kids get to wear jeans, the charity gets some cash, and a little more diabetes awareness gets done.

Nice!

Thanks, Colleen - I guess being perfect is over-rated, isn't it? I'm glad we're friends.

Cara - Thanks for always listening to my rants. I'm glad we're all here for each other.

Sara - How cool! Maybe this will become type of tradition at schools - that they donate to various causes & let the kids wear jeans. This would probably work in the work environment, too.

Susana - What a cute analogy using the Sisterhood of the Diabetes Pants. I wish I could think of stuff like that. It would have been a good title for this post, huh?

Jeff - I guess it's more than a win-win. It's a win-win-win, isn't it?

Hey Donna,

Very cool idea! My husband's work does things like that...you can wear jeans on Friday if you pay $5 to whatever charity is being sponsored. He goes for it every time :). It's sort of like the jeans Lotto, except you're always a winner!

No need to apologize...if you were "happy" all the time, I'd wonder about you :) There is definitely some icky stuff in life, but it's less icky when we have friends to share it with.

Carol - That's nice that your husband's work participates in these kinds of things. I like to hear that some companies really do give back to their communities. That's a good thing.

And you're right; it's nice that we have people to share our experiences with. What would we do without that? Thanks. :)
