I've read some blogs where people are dreaming that they are low or high & wake up to test & it's true. That happened to me last night (actually early this morning).
I have a lot of dreams where I dream that I'm waking up in my bed like usual. Those are really weird - because that's what is supposed to happen. So it's hard to tell if it's a dream or reality.
Well, in my dream, I woke up and felt like I was low. I tested & it said 22 - which really freaked me out! Then I really woke up; I really tested. And it was 53. Not as low as 22, but pretty low anyway.
I've had it work the other way too - when it's high.
I'm glad God makes me have these dreams so I'll wake up and test. But it's still really weird when you dream that you're waking up in your bed like normal, but you're really still sleeping....
Does anyone else do this? Or is it just another one of the weird ('er "special") things I do?

Lows & Highs

I think it's really interesting how the mind works that way. Maybe it's some kind of defense mechanism in all people, but only shows up for those whose blood sugars go too high or low.
I'm curious to see what other people have to say about their experiences.
No, Donna, I have never dreamt that I was low or high, but sounds like a good skill to have.(....I have dreamt that I was walking down a long long hall, looking for the Ladies Room, and, guess what, I woke up and really had to go - bad).
That's interesting, Donna. Do you ALWAYS awaken in time to correct a nighttime low before things get way out of hand? That's something to be thankful for.
I don't remember any dreams of my own, if I even have any to begin with. NancyTW took a class on dreams in college. I'll have to ask her if she remembers anything from it that pertains to your experiences.
Shannon - I've done this several times. Maybe it is some kind of defense mechanism. Whatever it is, I'm glad it works.
Kathy - Hey, at least you woke up, huh?
Jeff - I've only had one time when I didn't wake up on my own. That was back when my kids were little. Scared them to death. But Terry was able to wake me up enough to get me to eat a Twinkie. I was eating it when I finally realized what was happening. I hated seeing those terrified looks on my kids faces. I've been fortunate that I've been able to wake up on my own the rest of the time before it gets that bad. Let me know what Nancy says about the dreams.
