Finally, an article about a regular kid with diabetes.
It always kind of disgusts me when celebrities get on their bandwagon about diabetes & misinform the public about their conditions. Unfortunately, some people take a lot of stock in what celebrities have to say & they listen to them – even when they’re wrong.
But this article made me feel good. It’s about a regular kid who is dealing with type 1 diabetes – just like a lot of us do everyday. His mother makes accurate statements in the article – which is so refreshing. These people have such a positive attitude & don’t let diabetes stop their son from being a regular kid – just like you moms in the Diabetes OC. I love that!
Here’s the link. I hope you enjoy reading this accurate, positive story as much as I did.
Have a wonderful weekend!

Ryan has a nice support team, doesn't he, Donna? It's good that he's making the very best of the situation. There's so much to be learned from a kid like him.
Maybe someday we'll see him in the O.C.
Thanks for finding his story, and enjoy the weekend.
Having a good support team is so important - especially for an active kid. I was impressed with everybody involved. One of my son's friends was a lot like this when he was younger & involved in a lot of activities. Diabetes didn't stop him either. I love hearing about such positive, true stories like this.
That was a great story! Thanks for linking to it, Donna.
That was a good article!! Thanks for sharing.
About the Hollywood thing....I was actually thinking tonight that we need someone in Hollywood that is just as informed as this family, who can articulate the truths about type 1, who doesn't shy away from it, and has a "loud voice".
Like you said for some reason people gravitate towards celebrities....so if that's what it takes to get the truth out...we need one!!
At the time I was watching a news story about a Minnesota Vikings player that was recently diagnosed with Leukemia. He was at an awareness event for blood marrow donors. I thought..."What publicity...we need someone like that for type 1!!":-)
Hope your weekend is good!!
Patty - No problem. I thought it was worth sharing. Good news always is!
Lynnea - You're right; we do need someone in Hollywood who knows what they're talking about when it comes to type 1. That would be really nice.
Great article! And they mentioned the TYPE in the first 4 sentences! Impressive!
good eye, donna!
i didn't see a single myth in there for the rest of us to have to deal with!
i'm happy to see an article about a normal kid. that's great, thanks for posting it.
Windy - They said the right type & they said it so quickly in the article. I thought it was impressive, too!
Ashley - It was refreshing to see something without all those usual myths, wasn't it?
